This guide is intended for use by AEHS members and non-members who want to hike the 12.2-mile historic portage trail between the Kennebec River and Flagstaff Lake following Arnold’s 1775 route.
The distances and landmark descriptions along the route are given in detail and have been updated since the original 2014 guide. Noted author and AEHS member Steve Clark authored both the original and this updated version of the Great Carrying Place Guide.
